West Ham United are reportedly set to step up their interest in two Liverpool midfielders ahead of a potential summer move.
After a quiet few days on transfer news following the unfortunate passing of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool transfer news wheel is back in full swing.
The Reds have already made five additions to their squad this summer, while at least four senior players have left the club so far.
More new signings and exits are expected before the window slams shut.
The likes of Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez, and Kostas Tsimikas are expected to leave, while there could be departures for Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate, whose contract discussions with Liverpool are at a standstill at the moment.
Diaz is attracting serious interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, while Real Madrid is said to be keen on Ibrahima Konate, although they are unwilling to splash the cash on him this summer.
Another pair of players who could leave the club this summer are Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton.
Both midfielders starred for the England U21 squad that won the U21 Euro tournament this summer.
Elliott was named the player of the tournament for his impressive showing.
However, the 22-year-old’s Liverpool future is in doubt due to his lack of game time.
After playing a key role in the 2023/24 season, Elliott saw his game time reduced last season, leading to a desire on his part to seek more game time elsewhere.
West Ham have emerged as a potential destination for him and fellow midfielder Tyler Morton, who is also looking to leave Liverpool for more game time.
According to WHUEmployee (via The West Ham Way), having secured a deal for the signing of Liverpool-linked El Hadji Malick Diouf, the Hammers will now turn their attention to the capture of the Reds’ duo Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton.
“Tyler Morton and Harvey Elliot are also likely to have interest stepped up this week,” an insider told The West Ham Way Patreon.
According to a recent report by the same outlet, West Ham’s central objective under manager Graham Potter and Head of Recruitment Kyle Macaulay is to reduce the average age of the squad.
Their strategy is to focus on recruiting younger talent throughout the summer transfer window.
Morton and Elliott fit the bill at 22, and it’s understood that the London club are seriously examining the prospect of signing the English midfielders.
